Lego Robotics and Rocket Science

September 21, 2015 by phil@prose21.com

Wicked Local – Belmont

The town is partnering with Wicked Cool for Kids in Woburn to offer two science-based camps to children entering grades 2-4, Howell said.

The Lego Robotics program (July 8-12, $295) introduces kids to engineering. Kids create robots with motors and sensors, and program them using computers, said Barb Johnson, an owner and education director for Wicked Cool for Kids.

During the Rocket Science program (July 22-26, $295) students build and launch a solid fuel scale model of a rocket, Johnson said. The students launch the rockets at the end of the week (weather permitting), and parents are invited, she said.

“Everything we do, we try to incorporate a little STEM-based learning as well,” Johnson said. “The kids are so into it, they don’t even realize how much they’re learning.”
